On the way home from GP Nuvolari 2023,
the route from the Netherlands to Japan was closed at short notice because of fighting, and we had to turn back to the Netherlands.
This particular episode is survivable — but fighting in Azerbaijan means the Peking to Paris route is in doubt again.
We changed the route to avoid the war between Russia and Ukraine, and now this is precisely where the fighting is.
The route ran from Turkmenistan across the Caspian into Baku.
Well? What happens now?
God —
might we be let off soon?
The rearranged flights from Amsterdam were, predictably, all cancelled.
Departure in two days’ time. Time cannot be bought back with money, so we rebooked, and: Hong Kong.
The flight path? Unchanged — we are flying straight over the middle of a war zone.
And the baggage checked in yesterday has still not come back, so we are heading home empty-handed.
Will the money be refunded?
When will the lost baggage be sorted out?
Boarding in a rush with a pile of unresolved problems, thoroughly worn out.
