A form of support beyond any playbook!
The reason I couldn’t use marketing or advertising channels was simple: I had no money (laughs).
I even wanted to put the platform fee itself towards the challenge, so it has all been human effort!
Three and a half months since the crowdfunding campaign started! Time for a report, for the first time in a while.
“You just keep driving and looking after your body — trust us with the rest, and leave it to us 🔥”
My friends’ full-strength, life-cutting support by sheer human effort, and the wave of people who said “I’m in on this feeling, this challenge!” and carried it forward like carrying a festival shrine.
And what all of that turned into: a campaign fund I am almost too grateful for.
And then —✨
as of yesterday, 2 September 2022,277 people and past ¥3 millionreached! ✨
That we got here through people’s feelings, through everyone’s strength, makes me nothing but happy 😭💖
I had been wondering who would land this milestone number, and it turned out to be this person ✨
This connection, too, came through a friend from the support team — and, remarkably, yesterday was the first time we had ever actually met 💕
Someone who had already backed the campaign once, saying “landing the milestone sounds fun”,backed it again 🥪 — genuinely enjoying catching that milestone. I’m grateful 🙏🙏🙏
“I don’t need anything back, forget I even supported it” — a generosity on a whole other scale ✨
“Order whatever you like! Get your strength up! This one’s on me today!” — and the pudding I let myself order after that meal is a taste I will never forget!
The support that keeps spreading to me, carried by the support team telling people about it, has genuinely warmed my heart — it is a chain of love that spills right out of anything marketing or a crowdfunding platform could plan for.
Crowdfunding, renamed!
Support gathering through such an outlandish route!
And this too — my friends put their heads together and came up with a new name for it ✨
So the crowdfunding campaign is now called“Komo-fun-ding.”
It looks like this will keep being fun going forward ✨
One person, and all the reasons she can’t do it turn into all the reasons to drive! About three times the distance of the Paris–Dakar — half the circumference of the earth, 14,000 km from the Great Wall to Paris, in 37 days: this motor challenge!
Built over 100years ago, in a car with no air conditioning, no power steering and no navigation, driven straight through with an aching seat — a motor challenge continuing a history since1907,said to be the hardest in the world!
I would love it if you all joined in and enjoyed “Komo-fun” with me too ✨
* Everyone who has backed the campaign receives a report every Monday.
I make sure to report properly on how everyone’s precious money is being used ✨
