The day I set off for the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge: I leave Tokyo on 11 May 2024,
meet up with my partner, and set off for Peking from Kansai Airport on 13 May.
Even so, right up until the last minute, I've kept up early-morning part-time work without a single day off.
And what's more! I'm juggling three, four different jobs at once, all over the place (laughs).
Where and when I'll turn up… that's a secret (laughs).
Right now I can't focus on my main work or make solid plans, so I've chosen only the jobs that let me use my time freely, and only the places that genuinely back this challenge!
Today I'm working at “American,” a sandwich shop in Higashi-Ginza that's been running for 40 years!
I got to know the owner there through a chance encounter, and he's become one of my biggest supporters for this challenge!
Here's the info on this shop!
Komo-chan's playground part-time job! “American”
Today, of all things, when I went to pick up a big pot of boiling water for hard-boiling eggs,
"No, no! Komo-chan's got an important dream coming up soon, we can't let her do anything dangerous!" — that's honestly how warm this workplace is (laughs).
That's right! With so little time left until Peking to Paris… what do I focus on, every single day? It's this: “spend the day not thinking too much.”
So my friends often ask me, “why are you still so busy, still doing early-morning shifts?” — but your brain and body are connected, so keeping my body moving keeps my mind from wandering into places it doesn't need to go ✨
Even so, all sorts of information still finds its way to me.
This time, war has broken out somewhere right along the route I'll be driving 🔥
Luck and resolve are connected too!
Because misfortune comes looking for you when you're afraid! Whatever happens, I'm keeping my chin up and smiling through it, honestly and openly.
[Every morning, a solo voice log on FM]
A few unscripted minutes, just me talking honestly, before heading off to the early shift each morning…
I'd love it if you gave this a listen too!
