I have always loved flying.
The sea of cloud out of the window. However hard it is raining on the ground, I know that above the cloud it is always clear.
When things are hard I make a point of taking a window seat.
When my heart will not clear and seems permanently wet with tears, watching a rainy sky turn into an impossible blue once you are above the cloud makes me think: yes — get through this heavy grey and the sun is certain to appear.
Stay sharp.
I flew Peach for the first time in ages, opened the in-flight magazine, and there was this.
“Stay sharp.”
It may be an age in which being sharp is difficult.
Avoid trouble, avoid criticism.
There are times when that is a necessary way to think.
But if that is all there is, something is missing. […]
It is too early to round off your edges.
No — I want to stay sharp however old I get.
I want to keep a sense of play, and keep taking things on facing forward.
When in doubt, go towards what excites you.
When in doubt, go towards what makes people laugh.
“There is no precedent” is a compliment.
What nobody else will do is exactly what I will do.
Everything you see and hear is a gift from the gods. These words, at exactly this moment.
“I am going straight through too.”
