A dream you cannot make real alone stops being just a story the moment you meet enough people who share the feeling — I am living that discovery, one step at a time.
Yesterday I went to something called the “Eros Seminar”, put on by a friend whose own life changed a great deal through the people she met. The teacher I met there was Megumi Yuzuki, founder of Chairesque.
What on earth is Chairesque?
Chairesque, it turns out, is dancing beautifully, elegantly and sensually using a chair.
Its founder, Megumi Yuzuki, realised that “a sensual dance can be therapy” and built the practice out of that.
It hands women the realisation that being a woman, and simply being themselves, is enough.
Learning a world I did not know
Meet enough people, and you keep running into things you never knew and experiences you have never had.
But more than that, there are meetings with people whose souls genuinely move you — meetings you never dreamed you would have.
Living as yourself
It was a dear friend of mine who connected me to Megumi Yuzuki.
I met her ten years ago. Back then she was a wife, a mother, a housewife, quietly enduring severe emotional abuse from her husband, living as though the woman inside her had to be killed off to meet what she was “supposed” to be.
That woman, now, has met Chairesque — or rather, once again, it was meeting people that changed her life completely.
She has always had a gift for connecting people to people, and everyone drawn into her circle is wonderful without exception. And the woman who has utterly captivated her is Megumi Yuzuki, the founder of Chairesque.
Eros lifts a nation’s strength
The women gathered at the Eros Seminar were full of passion and overflowing energy.
“This is an Eros summit,” she laughed, and Megumi Yuzuki said that eros lifts the strength of a nation.
“Dancing is instinct, it is release, it is expression, it is total affirmation, it is purification,” she says.
Yes — we women make full use of the role of being women, and enjoy it. The woman telling us that is a genuine therapist.
Letting yourself into an unknown world without fear
Learning a world you did not know and living through it comes with fear and anxiety attached. But take that one step, and a time when you can release yourself and face yourself is certain to come.
I myself am now driving at full speed towards a world I have not yet seen: the Peking to Paris Motor Challenge 2023.
It was only a short while, but I got to try Chairesque myself (a little embarrassing, though — laughs).
In it was exactly that: facing yourself.
I too am now sharing a world with people who never knew it existed — motorsport especially is a world women have had almost no room to know.
Talking about all this, the night wore on, rich with the strength of women’s energy and the warmth of women’s kindness, all mixed together.
The “Eros summit” — I have met something wonderfully interesting again. More to come. Look forward to it.
My gratitude to everyone I met.
