Five years of driving towards this: 14,000 km from Peking to Paris in 37 days, in a classic car.
One year to go.
How many times have I thought about stopping —
that maybe I cannot do it,
that it is hard.
Conflict, nerves and a fight, always, until my life turned into the race itself.
Why did I arrive at Peking to Paris, of all things, a choice that pushes me to my absolute limit?
Because I think it is the stage on which to see exactly what I am made of — and to get that back.
A first for a Japanese woman
Paris–Dakar: there is nobody left who has not heard the phrase. But a classic-car Peking to Paris — hardly anyone knows this challenge exists.
And yet all through history, someone doing what had never been done is what leaves a mark.
This time I take on this outrageous thing as the first Japanese woman to do it.
People gather around a brilliant achievement.
But the muddy drama that leads up to it — I am staking my life on finding the people who will genuinely run that part with me.
The road to Peking to Paris is not one you finish easily.
I have decided in my heart that I will get past the difficulties inside this adventure, gain a great deal, and give something back to the world.
