The other day, on my radio show, “Laugh, and the gods will come to the door”
(FM GIG, every Sunday, starting 9 a.m.)

the “divine guest” who came on was —

Why?? How did an ordinary, unremarkable person end up connected to a millionaire?

About seven years ago, I joined a community teaching site-affiliate marketing, the know-how for earning money online.

It was a large community, with as many as 1,700 members,
and the teacher who took the stage as the top figure there looked, to me, as radiant as a star.

It being a community built around business, I thought —

howcan I get a result in the shortest possible time?”

That was the goal, and what I came up with was —

“right, I should learn from as close to a successful person as I possibly can!”

But among 1,700 students, nobody was going to remember my name, or my face.

One tiny person lost in a crowd.

I pushed through the other students, screwed up my courage, stepped forward, and with the biggest smile I had,
a high five!!
Even that took real nerve, honestly, but a first impression matters!
And so that became our memorable first meeting.

Value the person right in front of you

What was good about the community was having fellow students to learn alongside!

Of course I wanted to get closer to the teacher, but I also made dream maps with these fellow students,
cheered each other on, ran study sessions, and genuinely enjoyed learning together.

My motto was enjoy everything, and the teacher was living in Singapore at the time,
so back in Japan, without him around, I got close with my classmates instead, and we kept supporting each other and studying.

A chance my classmates carried to me

Invited to a drinks night with people from the community, and there, a surprise appearance, the star teacher himself, Kosei Mochizuki!

Even there, I was still just one student among a crowd.

But it happened to be my birthday that day, and my classmates had arranged a surprise birthday celebration!
And that, that was the chance that finally got me noticed!

Even so, at the study sessions I was still just one student among many, so
how, then, could I learn more of how he actually thought??

Because, for me,it was never really the know-how, it was the character and the actions of someone who had succeededthat I was interested in.

The distance and time you travel are in direct proportion to what you gain

Across a life blessed with a great many meetings, one thing I have always felt is —

go and meet the person you want to meet.

Anddo not spare the time or the money it takes.

I went to see him, with no appointment, while he was still living in Singapore at the time!!!!
My heart was pounding, honestly. Would I actually get to meet him?
What would I even say??

I learned so much more that way than I ever could have sitting through lessons in Japan.
Of course, I streamed it live for my classmates too.

Repay it with results!

This was a community teaching business know-how, after all, so simply getting close to him was not going to beenough, so I studied like my life depended on it!

What would actually make him glad??Thinking it through, the answer was: show him a result.

Getting up on that stage, among 1,700 students, had been my goal, so I was genuinely thrilled when it happened!!

From there he even had me interviewed as one of the course’s success stories!
A complete amateur, making her media debut??

Looking back now it is a little embarrassing (laughs).

And even so, I am still walking the same road today.Refusing to give up, and keeping going, that is what matters.

The pull of it was genuinely striking!!

Nearly ten years after leaving that community, I have been given another chance to bring that connection close again,
and that chance came my way.

It is because I have kept taking on challenges, unchanged since then!

On my radio slot, right now, I welcome as “divine guests” the people who have backed
this outrageous challenge of mine, a first for a Japanese woman.

This time, beyond the radio itself, I am sharing a little of the conversation on video, as something special.
