A week today since the crowdfunding campaign started.
A great many people have backed it, and I am grateful from the heart.
How long does the crowdfunding run?
I have had a lot of questions like that, so here is where things stand.
The challenge starts in Peking on 18 May 2024 and finishes on 23 June 2024: about 14,000 km (8,700 miles) over 37 days.
Getting to this point, one year out, has already taken five years since the idea began.
There still seems to be two years before the start, but the costs mount every single day, and I am living it as a day-by-day challenge.
Even calling it crowdfunding, this challenge takes an enormous amount of money, so I am not using a platform that takes a cut as a fee.
So there is no countdown, no headcount, no total shown — but everyone who backs it receives a report on the accounts once a week.
The immediate goal, as of 15 May 2022
Covid in 2020 badly delayed my plan to go to England to learn the car’s maintenance. But I cannot keep putting it off, so from next month, 19 June, I am planning to travel to England to work on and test the challenge car.
Support given in earnest connects, step by step, to making the dream real
A week in, and the funds already given through this campaign have gone straight into part of the cost of next month’s trip to England.
Carrying that feeling and that money properly with me, I am setting off.
Thank you for staying with me, going forward.
