Part two of my record of staying for the Mille Miglia, Italy: how I actually managed to get into Italy.
A challenge in the middle of a pandemic needed thorough preparation and no small amount of cunning.

Direct entry into Italy from Japan was not permitted, so I entered France instead and planned to drive myself into Italy from there.

This time I chose to stay in Nice, to shake off the jet lag and save my strength before the fight at the finest rally in the world.

I have covered this in video.

There was no telling what hurdles would appear before the event in Italy until I actually got there, so as far as I could I let the scenery calm my mind, to go forward without regrets.

At this point in time I chose Nice as a relatively reassuring part of France, though I still spent most of it in the hotel — I did manage a little sightseeing on a hired bicycle.

The sunrise from the hotel window, every morning, was moving enough on its own to fill the days.
A party dress I had made from a kimono, prepared for the pre-event party in Italy.

With the event running in the middle of the pandemic, word came that the party was cancelled — so, having gone to the trouble, I took commemorative photographs in the hotel instead.

From Nice, France, where I was staying, to Brescia, Italy, where the event is held, I drove myself in a hire car. About six hours or more on the road; there were places along the way I would have liked to visit, but I put reaching this goal first.
