About fifteen years ago now, training at a company in human development,
I first learned about something called a dream map.

Since then I have shared the dream map in all sorts of educational settings.
A dream map is simply pinning your imagined future — in photographs and words —
onto a corkboard.

Looking back, I made one myself ten years ago. (Sadly the image itself is not still around.)
Looking back at that first notebook I made it in —
it came true! It really came true!

· Start a company
· Fly abroad and back, year after year
· Take off into the world
· Have custom-made original clothes made … and so on — a hundred items in all, but

back then going abroad felt like a dream within a dream, and I was living the ordinary life of an ordinary office worker,
getting through each day just like everyone else (laughs).

And now, ten years later, I am driving the world!
(Back then I did not even have a driving licence, so looking back and finding myself driving the world through motorsport genuinely surprises even me!)
I get to travel abroad several times a year!

If you would like to, do follow along with my blog — I am still, right now, driving towards a dream.

With 2022 down to its last two months, I made the first version of my map for 2023, for the first time in a while.

First version? Yes! There is a knack to it — you go as specific, as detailed as you possibly can,
digging further in. What I made ten years ago did not dig deep enough,
and even so, a great deal of it has come true.

So once you have a first version, you refine it further, imagining it in more and more detail.

The other thing I have always done is build my own personal jinx for making dreams come true!

Every year I write out 100 dreams in my planner.

And then, on whatever flight takes me furthest, I look out at the sea of cloud and read through those hundred dreams.

That’s genuinely all there is to it.

Afterwards I learned about something called the “magic treasure map”, made famous by Toshitaka Mochizuki, and read
the book, and the basics turned out to be exactly what I had already been doing.

“Believing it matters more than anything!!”

Mochizuki wrote exactly that too.

  1. Decide your dream clearly.
  2. Feel what it is like for the dream to already be real.
  3. Do not listen to any suggestion that tries to break your dream.
  4. Listen to your subconscious.

And above everything — simply try it, honestly.

And look at it with real excitement.

I made mine alone this time, but I would actually recommend making one with other people.
Because putting a dream into words helps it come true, and the people you make it with will
tell you “you can do it! you can do it!” — which speeds things up even more!

Here is the finished first version!
It still needs a lot more detail worked in, so let’s make one together!!

I will be running a workshop on this next year too — look forward to it!

Words matter a great deal, so let me set downa partof my current dreams here.

· The Peking to Paris Motor Challenge, staked on my life — I finished it safely! Watched over by a great many supporters,
waving a finish flag carrying everyone’s photographs, in Paris! · Through that experience, the Japanese spirit reached people, and I now have the power to bring a smile, happiness and richness toa great many people. So I turned everything I was given into paying it forward.· I split my life between Japan and Italy, two months at a time. · Naturally, I fly first class ❣️.

· I enter a rally abroad once a fortnight, and the rest of my work is finished entirely online, so
I spend my days quietly, looking out at beautiful scenery.

· There is a beach close to home, so on fine days I go out to sunbathe.

· Friends often gather from Japan, so I host home parties, and take them sightseeing nearby.

· Friends abroad tell me Komo’s cooking is delicious, so I opened a small restaurant.

· Bookings fill instantly, so I only open on the days I feel like it.

· I often travel to neighbouring countries too ✈️.
I am always abroad at New Year, so I go to New Year parties in different countries.

· There is a lovely, stylish bar near my home, so I walk during the day and often end up there at night.

· For the two months I am back in Japan, I only meet the people I want to see, do only what I want to do, and treat work as play.

· About once a year I still enter a favourite Japanese rally too.

· I got hold of the yellow Bugatti I had my eye on in Italy, so I start near the front at the Mille Miglia, and I have picked up trophies in club races too.

· Living freely and easily like this, I stay in good health — no illness, no colds, and a genuinely happy life.

From my dream map, November 2022

Right now, taking on this challenge, negative results come with the territory, inevitably.
At a time like that, I got a message like this too!

Words from Honda, of the world.

Living in the world of everyday reality, it is genuinely hard to notice your own untapped possibility.
At a time like that, do try making a dream map.
Writing your dreams out is effective too.

Thank you for finding this blog!

People were born to be happy!!

Believing that, I will keep going too.
