This blog has turned into a real mixed bag, from motorsport stories to my cancer journey and everything in between, but my life became one that soared out into the big wide world the moment I met rallying.
I'd always loved travelling ❤️ and loved flying ❤️, so once I was actually heading abroad for a rally, I figured I'd make the most of any spare time and enjoy some sightseeing too.
So starting with this post, I want to bring you that side of things on the blog as well!
That's right — “as long as I'm alive, I'm going wherever I want to go.”
When you die, all you get to take with you is the memories…
The main event is always the rally itself, never the sightseeing, but 2023's trip to England happened to be a rare trip without a rally attached, so I ventured out to a nearby country too — off to Spain, chasing a place I'd always wanted to see at least once: the Sagrada Família.
Flying from a slightly chilly England in November 2023, Barcelona, Spain, welcomed me with a perfectly clear blue sky and weather over 27 degrees — hardly winter at all.
Wandering the city, I'm usually mostly about
eating and window-shopping, not so much the artistic heritage sites, but since this was my first time in the city, I bought a 48-hour ticket and set off properly sightseeing!
The hop-on hop-off sightseeing bus is genuinely a great recommendation. Two days is plenty to get a full sense of the place. The weather was so nice I bought a T-shirt and rode that loop bus round and round, again and again, in the refreshing breeze (laughs).

I even got my scouting look at my main target, the Sagrada Família, from inside the bus.
Once you've scouted from the bus, you pick which sightseeing spots you actually want to get off at, and that becomes your walk through the Spanish city.
Of course — I found a stylish Spanish shoe shop!

After all that walking, I got hungry, so I did what I always do and headed for the local market.

The charm of a market is getting to eat great local ingredients cheap. Spanish markets even have bar-like spots where you can eat right there on the spot, so you can enjoy a pleasant buzz with a glass of wine in hand! |
Eat, drink, ride the bus… eat and drink some more… and tomorrow, at last, comes the report on my main target, the Sagrada Família.
I keep meaning to note down shop names and recommended spots, not just photos, but
being the experience-first type, I'm usually at my limit just capturing photos and videos to remember it by — and that, honestly, is what a KOMO trip looks like!
Spain has become one of my favourite cities, one I'd genuinely love to visit again.
