The twelve-day journey of the Sahara Challenge, entered as a warm-up for Peking to Paris.
I'd be glad if you took a look at the earlier reports on this too.
On the morning of day 9, we made the decision to retire, and had the car carried away on a tow truck.
We had to get back to Spain, and the paperwork to cross the border by ferry turned out to be brutally difficult, so we spent from morning negotiating, over and over.
Once we'd seen the car off, we headed to today's lunch venue in a rental car.
We'd retired from the competition, but there was nothing left to do but enjoy the rest of the way to the finish!
The brutal stretch of the route was already behind us, so today's lunch venue had every participant in full relaxed mode!
We hadn't really managed proper meals every day up to this point, so today, for the first time in a while, I got to genuinely enjoy some real Moroccan food!
Morocco means tajine — all sorts of ingredients laid out together.

Once everyone else set off, it was my first laundry of this long journey! The T-shirt a friend had made for us, as support, soaked through with sweat and tears — seeing it again hit me pretty deep.

That evening, a little sightseeing, off to the “market.”
Since I was there anyway, I grabbed some fried food from a local street stall!
Getting to visit places you'd never reach on an ordinary trip is one of the real joys of rallying.

Parting with the car we'd fought alongside, heading toward the finish — day 10… the reports continue.
Driving carrying everyone's thoughts with me!
That was the resolve I entered this warm-up with… vowing to run it all the way to the very end,
and it continues on to the finish.
Thank you so much for reading all the way to the end!
