I entered this rally as competition practice and a test run for the Mille Miglia — and of fourteen rallies abroad, this may be the one that has stayed with me most, and the one I most want to do again.
I would not call it famous, but between the homely atmosphere, the organisers’ care and above all a route through the extraordinary Dolomites, I recommend it to anyone doing a rally abroad for the first time — or even to anyone hiring a car for a drive.
The seductive landscape of the Dolomites
Three hours from Brescia under our own power to the start. The road along Lake Garda is beautiful enough to make you sigh, and from there I could not stop feeling excited about the rally route itself.
Please watch as though driving with us. (The wind noise is muted — try sitting in front of a fan.)
